Let's start off with some funny stories, shall we?
Yesterday I was in my car with the windows half way down and the music on low while I sat at the red light on University Parks and LaSalle. I was the first car at the line and I didn't think it was ever going to turn green. I stuck my arms through the opening at the top of my steering wheel up to my elbows and played the drums on my dash. Someone started honking their horn really loud so I looked around to figure out who it was. Then they honked again! Now, these honks were probably 3 long seconds at a time and extremely uncalled for. I turned to look behind me and all of a sudden the loud noise stopped. At that moment I realized the honking had come from my car. Apparently my elbows were putting just enough pressure on my steering wheel to sound the horn. Take about embarrassing... Literally every car around was looking at me, and when the light turned green and it was my turn to go, I was so embarrassed driving in front of all those people. It felt like the drive of shame. I couldn't help but laugh and wonder how in the world I didn't notice that was coming from me. #thatawkwardmomentwhen...
Yesterday while I was being a studious student and studying away in the library I witnessed a conversation that made everyone in the room feel awkward. Guy number 1 was sitting at a table by himself with three empty chairs. Guy number 2 walks up and asks to join guy number 1 at his table. Guy number 1 says, "ya, man. Have a seat." As guy number 2 sits down guy number 1 reaches out his hand to introduce himself. It went like this:
Guy 1- I'm guy number one
Guy 2- Ya i know you, we're facebook friends
Guy 1- ummm....cool...really?
Seriously, the whole room got awkward. It was great.
Those are the only stories I can think of at this moment, so lets catch up on life!
This semester it seems like the Lord keeps shutting the door on things I want to do or be involved in. I get excited about it and then BAM the door slams shut. I'm sure everyone knows what this is like. It's kind of frustrating. It seems like everything I have diligently sought after has been a complete fail. When in a position like this it's hard to go from being upset at the circumstances to trusting in God and in His plan. I had my mind so focused on everything that was going wrong that I never acknowledged the things that were going SO right! God brought me here to Baylor and has continued to provide for me left and right. I am surrounded by great people, I have awesome roommates and I absolutely love my major. So some things didn't go as planned. That's because it was my plan, not His.
Giving all control over God has been the coolest experience! God is at work in everything around me and I can see it just like I can see things flying around in the wind of a tornado, but I am resting in the eye, and in there it's still. In the eye, surrounded by a whirlwind of life, there is an overwhelming peace. There is comfort in knowing that I can rest in my Savior while he takes care of the things flying all around me. I don't know if that makes any sense at all, but just know that when you surrender you life over to the Lord, He will provide, comfort and take care of you, and you will experience Him in ways you would never imagine. It's not always easy, but there is hope in knowing that whatever you're going through, you're not alone! If you never have, I encourage you give up control and let God in to the deep crevices of your heart. There, you will find healing, joy, peace, hope and whatever else you have failed to find in this world. I know from experience that there is nothing on earth that can completely satisfy me. Someone once told me that there is hole inside of us that is only the size of God. Do I believe there is an actual hole? Well, no, but I do think that's an awesome way of putting things.
I am excited about God's plans for my life, and I know that what he has for me is so much better than I could hope for. I don't know what else to say, and I'm super duper tired. Here are some verses I would like to add, and you'll probably recognize many of them but they're great!
Psalm 61:1-2
"Here my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For Thou hast been a refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy. Let me dwell in Thy tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Thy wings."
Matthew 11:28
"Come to me all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
Psalm 33:6
"By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host."HE IS SO AWESOME!!!!!!
Psalm 40: 1-2
" I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; And he set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm."
Psalm 63:1
"O God, Thou art my God; I shall seek Thee earnestly; My soul thirsts for Thee, my flesh yearns for Thee, in a dry and weary land where there is no water." (A Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God)
Isaiah 40:31
"Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary."
There is one who never fails, who loves beyond all and always prevails. There is one, to Earth he came, to die for my sins, He forever reigns. Grace has come, love has won, into the arms of my Father I run.
Trust in the ways of the Lord :) He knows what he is doing! Also, be careful not to accidentally honk your car horn at red lights...or anywhere at all. People will stare.
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight!
